NUBIA COURT NO. 190
History
In 1981, a group of 25 determined women, comprising wives, mothers, widows, daughters, and sisters of the Nobility of Prince Hall Shriners, recognized the necessity for an Auxiliary for female family members of the Nobles of Nubia Temple #191 (A.E.A.O.N.M.S.). They formed a Social Club with the aim of uniting female relatives of all members into a bond of friendship, charity, and benevolence, inspired by the legend of the Egyptian queen. On August 19, 1982, Nubia Court #190 was officially chartered, marking the establishment of the Oasis of Killeen and the induction of these 25 women as Daughters of the Imperial Court. Notable charter members included Dt. Beverly Ware, Dt. Deborah Mason, Dt. Christine Latimore, Dt. Verdie Jo Garrett, Dt. Cloerine Brewer, Dt. Belle Aiken, Dt. Nadine Robinson, Dt. Birdie Seawood, Dt. Annie Carson-Hamilton, Dt. Pearlie White, Dt. Mary Brown, Dt. Addie Perry, Dt. Essie Johnson, Dt. Gwendolyn Gilchrist, Dt. Hartense Gilkey, Dt. Cathary Johnson, Dt. Sandra Jounet, Dt. Lena Morgan, Dt. Deborah Perry, Dt. Patricia Aiken, Dt. Elaine Aiken, Dt. Fannetta Allen, Dt. Lena Varnado, Dt. Demetria Wilburn, and Dt. Kathryn Gordon. Over the past 40 years, Nubia Court #190 has seen the emergence of numerous leaders who exemplify principles of loyalty, faithfulness, and love, contributing to the advancement of the organization and finer womanhood. Twenty-one Actual Illustrious Commandresses and one Honorary Past Illustrious Commandress have led with devotion to the Legendary Goddess and the ideals of the court.
